Happy Halloween!

HappyHalloween

Good morning ghouls and boys, I hope you’re all having a spooktacular Halloween!

Mr. Awesome Sauce and I are having a great day scaring up lots of laughs around the office :)

Can you believe this is the first time I’ve ever dressed up as a vampire? I know, right?! I couldn’t believe it either.

For anyone interested here’s where I got the various pieces of my costume — The red velvet dress was actually made by my mum *mumble mumble* years ago when I was in high school, and I whipped up the black bat lace overskirt on Wednesday night to add a bit of dimension. The fabulous wig I’m wearing is the Farrah in Vamp from the RockStar collection by Gothic Lolita Wigs, my corset is one I wore a couple years ago as part of my steampunk costume and came from Hips & Curves, and lastly, my lace gloves are from knitwit321 on Etsy, my favorite place to find damn near everything!

Be safe out there ghouls and boys, and in case anyone is interested, mountains of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups help feed the muse ;)

Music That Moves You

So last night Mr. Awesome Sauce and I were watching The Voice. It’s not something we watch regularly, usually just as a filler while we’re waiting for something else to come on. We were lucky enough to catch a contestant named Taylor John Williams sing a cover of Tears For Fears’ Mad World. This has long been one of my favorite songs, and in a rare moment of connection with the performance, I found myself almost brought to tears by this young man’s rendition of the song. This got me to thinking about other songs that have inspired a similar reaction, or another equally strong response. So, here are a couple songs that I feel resonate in my soul for one reason or another…

Peter Hollens – Gollum’s Song (And pretty much anything else he does)
Ed Sheeran – I see Fire
Hurts – Illuminated
Alex Clare – Too Close
AWOLNATION – Sail
KONGOS – Come With Me Now
Megan Trainor – All About That Bass

What are some of the songs/musicians that move you?

Family Fun

Hello ghouls and boys! Sorry for the long absence – I’ve been busy hammering away on Bitten and planning for the next short story (Welcome to the Asylum) and book three (Marked), and also enjoying a wonderful two weeks with my oldest brother, sister-in-law and my beautiful twin nieces who are visiting from the UK.

We’ve had a lot of fun riding the cog train up to Pikes Peak, visiting the Denver Aquarium and the zoo. There hasn’t been much time for writing while they’ve been here, but it’s good to take a break every now and then, and family definitely comes first :) I hope you’ve all been having fun too, and are enjoying the beginning of Fall.

So, here are a few pictures from our trips about town…

No matter how hard I tried, it was down right impossible to get a perfect picture of this little guy. He sure was beautiful though

And because I posted some pictures of Mr. Awesome Sauce, I suppose it’s only fair I share one of me too. And no, that is not part of my Halloween costume
